We made these turtles on letter T day. This little guy has brought it back to preschool 3 times now. I think he really likes him. :)
February is Dental Health Month so we had some fun learning about teeth. For cooking we made these toothy smiles out of apples, peanut butter and marshmallows.
I boiled a few hard boiled eggs to show what can happen if you don't brush your teeth. This egg was boiled with a tea bag to show what plaque build up can look like on your teeth.
We scrubbed the egg with toothpaste and a toothbrush. They thought it was so much fun brushing an egg. It took quite a bit of scrubbing to get it clean.
It's hard to tell from this picture but the egg on the left was soaked in Milk (which is great for your teeth with lots of calcium in it) The one on the right is soaked in vinegar to show if you eat foods that are processed and unhealthy and don't brush your teeth. The vinegar egg was mushy as the vinegar had eaten through the shell and the "enamel" was no longer hard.
Egg soaked in Pepsi. I showed it to my husband to try and convince him not to drink Pepsi so much. He just got the toothpaste and toothbrush and quickly cleaned up the egg to show if he brushes his teeth it isn't bad. Bummer, I guess we will still be buying way too much Pepsi.
We have been learning about the 5 senses. This day I wrapped different objects in socks. The kids got to feel the objects through the sock and guess what they thought was in the sock. They had some great guesses. Some were pretty humorous though. Such as, a chicken, a pickle, a dog, and a few others that I can't seem to remember.
We made some heart shaped pizzas for cooking one day.
Valentine Party Games:Bingo and a math sorting game
Letter S day made snakes and shakes
We also talked about smell with the 5 senses. The cups were covered with napkins that I had made slits in. The kids were really good at guessing the smells. Vinegar, Candle wax, potato chip, popcorn, cinnamon, peanut butter.
