April and May

Hi everyone sorry that I didn't get these posted sooner. It has been so busy! We have been doing so many fun things and getting ready for our preschool graduation. I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by. I have been putting together a slide show looking through all our pictures and am sad to see it come to an end. I have loved every minute of teaching your children. They really make my day and I am so lucky to have them in my life. This is going to be hopefully a quick post with some pictures and just a few things we did. Thanks again for everything. I can't wait to show off your kids on Wednesday and Thursday!

Trees: We had some fun with our letters with the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. They made their own letter T practicing cutting and pasting. We also made a coconut tree for snack time. We painted and made popcorn trees with real popcorn.

Fun with dress ups during center time

Easter fun: We matched upper and lower case letter with eggs, learned about the chicken life cycle, made a fun chick snack with a mama chicken and eggs in her nest. We also made a duck/rabbit craft with a fun poem and went on an easter egg hunt.

Transportation Day: We played a fun game where the kids got to pick a car and then I would call out a number. They had to park their car in the right stall. Afterwards we did some fun art with the wheels of our cars and then gave them a car wash. We played Red light/Green light for PE and practiced things like hopping, jumping jacks, ABC's, crawling like a snake etc.

Center Time: Working on our lower case letters

Turtle Day: We read about the Fable the Tortoise and the Hare. They loved watching a little video of it and we talked about times in our life when we can be like the tortoise and never give up. For example, learning to ride a bike, writing our name, learning our numbers, cleaning our room. We also made a turtle craft and they had fun decorating their shells. Afterwards we had a fun snack I made called Turtle Bread.

Team work: Playing with gears.

Butterflies: We got our caterpillars and read some fun books about the life cycle of a Butterfly. We made our own caterpillars and a cocoon for them to sleep in and then some butterflies for them to hatch into. We also learned about symmetry and practiced coloring each side of the butterfly the same as the other.

Lady Bug Day: We broke up into groups and played a ladybug hiding game, made an art craft with spots on our ladybugs, and rolled a dice and put that many pom poms on our ladybugs.

Ladybug snack with apples, pretzels and chocolate chips.

U is for Underground: We learned about what animals live underground and also planted some grass to make some grass heads. They will be coming home this week. Some are growing faster than others. We made a craft cutting grass and putting pictures of animals that live underground and then finished up the day with a yummy dirt snack.

Field Trip to Old Spaghetti Factory for 3 year old class.

4 year old class had fun learning about volcanoes. We  made volcanoes out of the letter V and strips of paper. We also did a science experiment with baking soda and vinegar to watch how volcanoes erupt.

Plant week: We learned about the parts of a plant and planted flowers for our moms. We also read the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk and acted it out which was a ton of fun. We used upper and lower case letters to match on the bean stalk for the leaves going up to the castle. Mrs. Chelise came this day as well and did some yoga with the kids that was all about caterpillars and plants.

Letter X day: We went on a treasure hunt but they first had to do a lot of activities to find the treasure. We looked for clues and if they weren't there we put an x on the picture, We traced the letter X, We did exercises in X shapes: sit ups with our arms crossed like an X, jumping jacks that looked like X's, Scissor cuts with our arms like an X, etc. Then we made x's with popsicle sticks and found a treasure map that had us go through tunnels, climb a mountain and then find a big chest with the letter X on it. Inside we found a treat.

Z is for zoo and zebra: We made zebras out of the letter Z. We also learned some fun facts about zebras and watched a video of a zebra at the San Diego zoo and saw her baby teeth she lost at 3 years old and found out that zebras are black with white stripes.
