Red, Blue, Yellow and Pink

I can't believe how quickly the weeks have been flying by! The kids are learning so much and my 3 year olds are getting so good at writing their names. :) I am so proud of them and all their hard work. We have been having a blast learning about our colors.

Red Day

Red day was our Watermelon day. The kids loved learning some rhyming words while singing Down By the Bay. We weighed a watermelon, counted how many stripes were on it and then checked to see if watermelons sink or float. We also made our own watermelons.

We also practiced counting how many seeds were on a watermelon during center time.

The kids loved this game as well. It is a sorting pie game I just got. There are different ways to sort based off of colors, numbers, by fruit, etc. We worked on color sorting. The tweezers are great for their fine motor skills.

We also sang some fun movement songs about the color red to get some exercise. I loved this picture of my 3 year old class! I asked them to go sit at the carpet when they were done painting and I turned around to see them all matched up by their feet. They were sitting so quietly and were having fun smiling at their new friends.

Blue Day

We will be focusing a lot more on our letters after our color themes. But this day we did a lot with our Letter B. We also looked for blue snakes, dinosaurs and frogs in our bean table. We made Blue Bugs out of our letter B.

We played a fun blueberry game. The kids got to find blueberries I had hidden around the room and match them to the correct letter.

We also played a memory game. I would cover a bunch of blue objects with a blue blanket and one child would remove an object. The other kids had to figure out which one was missing.

Yellow Day

The kids loved painting with yellow peppers, lemons and corn on the cob this day.

We danced to some music and when Miss Julie froze the music they had to go touch something yellow in the room.

We have been practicing our cutting skills! They love this so much and are so proud of themselves when they cut. My 3 year old class didn't have time to glue their pictures to a yellow piece of paper so sorry if you had scraps in their backpacks.

We have been working on shapes too. This is a fun cookie game. It has about 7 different games you can play and they are so much fun. They had to make the exact silly face that their card showed using different shapes.

We loved having some bananas and lemonade for a snack this day.

Pink Day

I love this day. We enjoyed retelling the story of the Three Little Pigs. They love huffing and puffing and blowing the house down. The kids also told me everything they know about pigs. They knew that they are pink, love to eat corn, love to roll in the mud to cool off and they make an oinking sound.

We made our own pigs and painted them in a shaving cream paint to make mud.

We have been practicing our numbers and my 4 year old class did awesome at tracing their number 2.

We made these fun little pig puppets and they got to put some pink skittles in their pig nose for a good behavior treat at the end of the day.

Thank you for letting me teach your adorable children! They make me so happy and I love all their smiles and laughter. I can't wait for another fun week. Next week we will be doing Green Day on Monday/Tuesday and Purple Day on Wednesday/Thursday
