December Fun

Thank you so much for being patient with me. I wanted to get this post done before Christmas but the time just slipped away from me. Here are some pictures of some of the things we did the last 2 weeks.

Snow Day: We talked about how snow is made from clouds and the air being so cold. They loved talking about how if it was warmer it would just be rain that came from the clouds. We then went outside and collected our own snow to play with. The kids got to make it colorful with markers. It was super powdery so we weren't able to make the snow into any shapes. They loved dumping it in the sink at the end and watching it melt with warm water.

We played Snow Number Bingo with marshmallows for our snowballs

Grinch Day! We made some fun rhyming books during center time and the after snack time we read this story (A Classic!)

We made our own Grinch with a heart since the Grinch's heart grows three times bigger at the end of the book.

We Finished the day by making a grinch snack. It was a green mint chocolate chip milk shake!

Field Trip to Peppermint Place

I Really wish they gave tours at this place but it was fun to watch the workers and see all the fun treats they make. They sent us home with a candy cane and a coloring page.

Polar Express Day: We practiced cutting on the train tracks for our morning starter.

We also had fun finishing up our presents to parents. The kids were so excited to give these to you. I have to say the dough gave me quite a difficult time, hopefully they were finally dried out after hours in the oven. :)

We practiced some journal writing of what our favorite part of the book was.

We also had hot chocolate and then watched a few scenes from the movie and compared and contrasted the book and the movie. They got to go home with a bell to remember to always believe.

Gingerbread Day

They loved watching this fun video of the story of The Gingerbread Man

The Gingerbread Man

We made our own Gingerbread Man and decorated him with jewels, buttons, sparkles and googley eyes. The kids then got to practice writing where their Gingerbread man would hide so nobody could find him.

We played a fun Gingerbread Color game too that the kids loved.

Christmas Party: We decorated ice cream cones to look like Christmas trees, played dance freeze to Christmas music, played pin the nose on frosty, and a stocking guessing game. We also had our book exchange at the end of class.

Thank you Mika for taking those last pictures and thank you to those of you that were able to help out with the party!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are having a fantastic Winter Break with your kiddos. We enjoyed a beautiful day at the zoo today. Asher was in love with all the animals and luckily it wasn't busy at all and he could run all over the place.

Here is a fun video to finish off the post. The kids love this song.
