Wack-a-doo Wednesdays

I love summer time! It is so nice to be outside and have a little break from the craziness in the rest of the year. I have been having so much fun with my summer class this year. They are so eager to learn and have fun. We started the summer off having a unit on friendship and getting to know each other. We also had fun making gifts for our Fathers for Father's Day. I asked the kids a list of things about their dads and they had the cutest answers.

Bubble Day!

Every kid LOVES bubbles. This was such a fun day. We got to make bubble art by blowing colored bubbles and then popping them with a piece of paper to make a cool design. We also made our own bubble mixture and had fun chasing them outside. I asked the kids lots of questions like, "What makes a bubble? Where do you think the bubbles go when they fly away in the sky? What shape is a bubble? Why do bubbles pop?" I got lots of great answers  :) We finished the day with a special treat of Double Bubble gum.

Cowboy Day

We started off class letting them decorate a cowboy boot. After circle time I read them one of my favorite books The Gingerbread Cowboy. We first discussed the story of the Gingerbread Man. It was fun to compare the two stories. For cooking this day we made some Cornbread Muffins (A favorite of cowboys and cowgirls!) Then we finished off the day playing a Cowboy Game. I had 2 kids be the ranchers and named the other kids a type of animal. If the rancher called your animal you had to run and try not to get caught by them. The kids had a blast!
