Summer Fun Days!

Well we are almost towards the end of July and I am just barely getting around to updating our blog from Wack-a-doo Wednesdays. We have been having so much fun with a new theme each week. The kids are doing great and the new ones are getting the hang of routines. I look forward to seeing them each week. I hope you have been having a great summer as well. Here are a few pictures of some of the things we have been doing.

We started the summer off with a Beach Themed Day. We sang some fun songs to familiar tunes about animals we can find in the Ocean. We made Jelly Fish for a craft.  I made some Soft as Clouds play dough that the kids loved making seashell stamps in. Our Bean table was well stocked with seashells and ocean animals for them to dig for. And we played a fun game where they got to dive under the table to capture something we can find in the ocean. I didn't have my  nice camera this day so I only got a few with my phone.

FATHERS WEEK: We made fishes by doing tear art and gave our dads a fun little gift of swedish fish. Hopefully yours made it home to dad. :) I also interviewed each of the children to find out more about their dads. This is always so fun and they have the best answers!

COWBOY DAY: I read a really fun book to the kids that is called The Gingerbread Cowboy. They love comparing it to the story the The Gingerbread Man. We made our own cowboy/girl hats and played a fun rancher tag game. We also made cornbread muffins for snack time.

4TH OF JULY WEEK

We talked about why we celebrate the 4th of July. We made a flag, practicing patterns. We made our own fireworks with paint and pipe cleaners and glitter. We had a parade with streamers and a flag and did different actions each time I would pause the music. We also played a fun blast off game pretending that we were fireworks.

GROCERY DAY

We had fun cutting out food we wanted to go shopping for and making a shopping list. We learned about the food groups and had some food from each group for snack time. The kids loved our pie sorting game and cookie game to work on shapes. We played with a homemade scale, pretend money and cash registers and had a great time being customers and employees at a grocery store.

BUBBLE DAY

I made a homemade bubble solution but it drained out during the night all over my floor. BUMMER:( Luckily I had several big containers of bubbles to pull out. We started out the day making "bubble" dots on our names. The kids loved making their own bubble art by blowing colored bubbles all over a paper. I had our puppet friend, Jenny, come to visit preschool this day and she had all sorts of questions about what a bubble was. The kids were so good at explaining that a bubble is something that floats in the air, is made of water and soap, and you have to blow it. It has lots of colors of the rainbow in it and you can find bubbles in drinks, food, soap and even the bath tub. For PE we listened to different speeds of music and they had to float like they were a bubble. When I clapped my hands I popped them and they had to fall to the ground. Another game we played was with me blowing bubbles. They had to pop the bubbles with different parts of their body like their nose, elbow, bum, etc.

Our last game we played was with a bunch of ping pong balls and my parachute. We "blew" the bubbles slowly and then when they went fast we made them all jump into the air. They LOVED this one of course!

PIONEER DAY

The kids enjoyed hearing all about the pioneers. We made an art project of a wagon, ox, fire, and pioneer children. We also added some of the hard things they went through like snow, snakes and lots of mountains to climb and walk. We moved a paper pioneer on a map of the United States to show how some of the Pioneers came to Utah. We made homemade butter to have with crackers for snack time. We also made bracelets out of buttons because the pioneer children loved to make crafts with buttons. We made houses out of Lincoln Logs and played Button, Button, who has the Button. We also played another fun game the pioneer children loved to play called "Ducks Fly".

It has been a great couple of months! The kids are getting close to earning their ice-cream party for great behavior. They are all so excited about it and have been working really hard. Thank you again for letting me be able to teach them.
