Meet Miss Julie

Hi, I am so happy that you have found my blog! I absolutely love teaching and am excited to share a little about myself with you. I grew up in Taylorsville, Utah. I loved playing outside, playing the piano and dancing. After graduating high school I decided I was going to go to school to become a dental hygienist. I was taking all the anatomy courses and was ready to apply for the program when I had an overwhelming feeling that I was suppose to be a teacher. You have to understand that I had never wanted to be a teacher before! 


So I followed this feeling and applied for UVU's elementary education program. Once getting into the program I realized this was where I was suppose to be. I did my student teaching in 1st grade and had a blast remembering how fun it is to be a kid!  After graduation I taught 2nd grade for 5 years in Draper, Utah. My husband, Jake and I, then had our first child. At this time I really desired to stay home as a mom but was torn to leave my teaching job that I loved so much. So I compromised and decided to start a preschool in my home. This is my 15th year teaching preschool and I am loving every minute of it! I can't believe this year will be my 20th year teaching. 


We have 2 kids and two dogs named Sienna and Sadie.  I enjoy playing games with my family and friends. I love yoga, pilates and being active outside. I also still love playing the piano and enjoy teaching my kids.  As a child I would have never pictured myself as a teacher but now I can't imagine my life without it! It is truly my dream job. 


I love kids and I love watching their faces as they get excited about something new that we learn about. It makes it easy to still be a kid at heart and never grow old.
