We were able to visit Lehi fire station and learn some more about fire safety and see some of their gear. We missed the big fire engine this year but still had a great time.
We read the book The Magic Hat by Mem Fox. The magic hat turns people into different animals when it lands on them. We loved retelling the story and trying on many different hats. We made our own magic hat to take home as well this day.
We loved making our own pies after reading the book I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie. We worked on a lot of rhyming words and letter work this day. Making sentences and retelling the story to remember everything the little old lady ate.
We love birthday days and wearing our special birthday hat.
Fun morning work/play. Lots of work on letters, numbers and shapes.
We learned all about Kangaroos this day and made our own little joey to go in our pouches. We also played a fun sensory game where they reached into a pouch and used touch to guess what was in the pouch without using their eyes.
Matching lower case joeys to their upper case moms.
Thanksgiving Center Day: Matching Turkey letter heads to the correct letter on the fence, putting on clothespins for feathers on turkeys, play do counting corn, turkey letter writing, turkey shape match and where is the turkey hiding game.
Thanksgiving Feast Day: We learned about the first Thanksgiving. We also learned about manners at the table and all the boys pulled a chair out for each girl. I love watching them be little gentlemen. We ate lots of yummy food and made turkey hats as we gobbled out the door at the end of the day.
Popcorn Word Book fun with our light day.
Painting lights with our fingers
Practicing letters in shaving cream that we pretended to be snow
Grinch Day: We made grinch art, grinchy milkshakes and talked about feelings this day and different things that might make us feel grinchy and how to work through it.
Gingerbread and Christmas centers: Making Christmas cookies and decorating them, letter writing in sand, Christmas tree fine motor skill ornaments, gingerbread letter find.
Polar Express Day is always a favorite! We came to school in our jammies and each got a ticket and then boarded our make believe train. We read the story and made hot chocolate. We made gifts for our parents for Christmas and got to take a bell home.
More Christmas centers: Making shapes out of candy canes, build a word tree, Fine motor candy cane bead ornaments and Santa shape game.
Our Christmas party was a lot of fun! We hid ourselves in a giant present as a game, sorted skittle ornaments, played a sensory stocking game, acted out a snow day, had a snowball fight, played elf, elf, Santa, had a gift exchange with our friends and sang for our families.
