We have been having a great summer! We started it off with a dinosaur day. The kids had a great time doing centers with a sensory bin of cocoa water swamp and bubble suds to give dinosaurs a bath by jumping off a diving board. They stamped footprints of dinosaurs for art and made their own dinosaur fossil with play dough. They worked on dinosaur patterns and puzzle as well as a Dino dig through sand. We read some dinosaur books and discussed different types of dinosaurs. We sang and danced to dinosaur songs and the kids got to take home a dinosaur frozen egg with them.
Our next day was The Great Outdoors. We made bird feeders, fed the iguana bugs game, froggy feeding game and tanagrams and a sensory bin of bugs hibernating in homemade snow. We also went on a nature hunt to see if we could find each color we know and to use our senses to smell, hear and see different things in our world. We did some yoga in the grass of different bugs that live on our earth and did it along to a story. Mr. Munch joined us today (a fun game we play) and he only likes to eat things today that live outside. The kids had fun trying to feed him different items and see if he liked them or not.
The kids loved camping day! They had fun smacking number flies that were on our sandwiches, fishing for numbers, stamping bugs and rocks into play dough, making a picnic, roasting marshmallows and sleeping in a tent with their homemade lanterns for light.
For cooking day we were super busy making lots of different things. They made rainbow toast by painting colored milk onto a piece of bread and toasting it. We made homemade butter and cinnamon sugar to sprinkle on top. We had centers with a play dough cupcake and cookie center, they practiced how to set a table correctly and then acted as waiters and waitresses to serve each other, they made a pie by matching correct colors and made silly people out of cookies. They also made dirt cups out of pudding, Oreos and gummy worms and then we finished up the day making individual pizzas to go home.
For Superhero day we talked about what a superhero is and discussed how we have superheroes like fireman, policeman and those that serve our country to keep us safe. We played a super hero game where the superhero had to save different letters from the world. We did super hero puzzles and made our own cape and masks. We finished the day out doing an obstacle course to be superheroes and save the animals and put them back in the pet hotel.
It has been a wonderful summer and we have 3 more classes left. I hope your kids have been having as much fun as me! I love seeing them each time.
