Letter D week
We read the book If You Give a Dog a Donut and then decorated a letter D and turned it into a Dalmatian Dog. I also had a large donut made out of poster board that we played a game with. The kids had to pick a number out of a box and put that many diamond sprinkles on the donut.
For movement we played some music and danced like a dog, a dragon, stomped like a dinosaur, swam like a dolphin, flew like a dove etc.
We also read this awesome book!
The kids LOVE this book. It is interactive and has lots of dots to push, blow on, etc. Each time they do something, the next page will be like magic and their dot has done something new.
After reading the book we played a guessing game with letter D words. I would give them a clue and they would put a dot sticker on the picture that matched my clue.
Practicing our letters during centers.
Dot game, sorry some pictures are blurry. I took these ones with my phone.
We had a blast once again this year at Vineyard Nursery! The first day was empty and we practically had the whole place to ourselves.
F is for Fall. We traced the kids hands and arms and made it into a tree with fall leaves. For math we recited a poem about leaves and counted down as each leaf fell off the tree. The kids loved blowing the leaves off of the trees. My 3 year old class enjoyed going on a leaf hunt and making a big leaf pile to jump in. And we also did some science to see if different objects would sink or float.
G is for Ghost and Germs! We used glitter to learn about how germs can spread from one person to another if we don't wash our hands. The only way to get the glitter all the way off was to wash our hands. Afterwards we went for a germ hunt. I had little creepy germs hidden all over and we blew bubbles on each germ to get rid of them. We made ghost puppets as well that had a fun little poem to go along with it. I hope your kids had fun scaring you.
Center time, feeding Mr Ghost different letters.
For snack time we got to make a ghost out of marshmallows and chocolate chips.
Math, they would pick a number out of the pile and had to put that many green straws into Mr. Frankenstein.
H is for Haunted Houses and Halloween! We made spooky Haunted Houses out of our Letter H. We also played a fun game where I would tell them a number and they had to pick the ghost with that number off of the haunted house. Each ghost told the kids something silly or spooky to do. Mrs. Chelise came as well and taught the kids some fun Halloween/Fall yoga.
Halloween party! We had a blast! The kids loved pumpkin bowling, bingo, hide the jack o lantern, pin the nose on Jack, Don't eat Jack and a spider web game. We also decorated cupcakes, made a witch brew, read some halloween stories, found our Halloween words on the word wall, and danced the Spooky Hooky. What a busy and fun day. Many thanks again to my moms who came to help out. The kids loved having you there.
What a great month! I can't wait to see you this week.
