Happy October

Letter D Week

On this day we had fun doing dog activities. I love the book

We read this book and then made some letter D doghouses. Decorated in diamonds. And of course their very own drawing of a dog inside.

We also practiced writing our letter D's and for math we played Donut Math. I made a large donut out of poster board and we taped it on the wall. The donut had numbers on it and then I would put a number in the middle of the donut. The kids would take turns throwing a bean bag onto a number and then we would add it to the number in the middle. For example: The number in the middle is 1 and someone throws a bean bag at the number 2. We used our fingers to say 1+2 is 3. They really loved this and having been getting really good at adding.

We also had a donut snack for being extra good this day. I recently made some Krispy Kreme copycat donuts. They were so DELICIOUS, I thought I would share this recipe with you. We are definitely making these for Christmas morning.

D is for DOTS

During center time we practiced counting dots on some dice.

We also kept working on adding with some apple games Ms. Julie got in our scholastic book order.

We read this fun book!

Then we made lots of dots on our letter D. We also played a bingo dot game to practice number recognition.

We decorated our papers and face with dot stickers. :)

Lots of Dots :) And we found things in our classroom that started with the Letter D and put a dot on them.

And we finished off the day with some yummy Dot snacks.

Halloween Spiders
We took a break this day to do something fun for the month of October. We talked all about spiders and Ms. Julie even read parts of a book with real spider facts. We made a web on our wall with pictures of what we learned. Spiders have 2 body parts. They have 8 legs and 8 eyes. They spin silk. They have oily bodies. They leg hundreds of eggs. And they don't have any bones.

We then made our own spiders out of shapes and of course 8 eyes. Ms. Julie put a fuzzy pipe cleaner in them so they could walk like a puppet.

Vineyard Nursery

Another year of fun at Pumpkin Land!

SO Heavy!

Holding hands in the corn maze. :)

E is for Elephants!

We keep working on all of our letters. Lots and lots of practice finding them and writing them.

We watched a fun video to introduce letter E.

We also watched some real elephants playing in water.

Then we turned our Letter E's into elephants.

We played a couple fun games. The first one I didn't get any pictures of. I had a bag with some mystery items. I would put an item all by itself in another bag and then had the kids put their hands together like they were clapping. I covered their hands with a sock so that their arms looked like a trunk. They got to put their elephant trunk into the bag and try to feel what the item was in the bag.

We also played this fun little game that came with a poem. "One elephant went out to play, on a tightrope string one day. He had such enormous fun, he called for another elephant to come!" Then they pick someone to come join them. Once everyone was on the "Tightrope" we said "They had such enormous fun, but the tightrope broke and they all fell down!" Definitely a FAVORITE game.
