We have been busy the last few months!!! We started off October with noticing the different changes to our earth and the trees outside as well as how animals are starting to prepare for winter. We collected different leaves and sorted them by colors and shapes.
We also have been working hard on letters and numbers. The kids are doing so well and I love watching them grow and get excited about all they know.
Here are some pictures of a few things we have been working on. We stay busy doing a lot of work in other areas to prepare for Kindergarten and we love learning through play and hands on activities.
Center Work: Letter Finds, Squirrel shape matching game, Sneaky Squirrel game to work on fine motor skills and one to one correspondence, and textured acorn, leave and pine cone play dough.
We had fun doing some pumpkin yoga and telling stories about going to a pumpkin patch to find the perfect pumpkin.
Hee Haw Farms field trip
E is for creepy Halloween eyes. We worked on our five senses this day. We also graphed our different colors of each child's eyes and were able to see which color we had the most of and which one we had the least of.

We finished up October with a fun Halloween party!
In November we loved learning about community helpers! They got to make baker hats and enjoy cooking like a real baker.
Center time: matching donuts, Letter cookie match flip game, cookie letter game, number practice with pies and putting ice cream scoops on each pie.
We also loved adding some literacy to this unit with the story of the Little Red Hen. We carried it over to our Farm day to learn all the responsibilities of a farmer and all the different foods we get from animals and the crops the farmer plants. We started focusing a lot on rhyming words as well this month.

Doctor nurse day was fun learning how they help us to get healthy. We made our own doctor kits and were able to take them home to take care of our family like a real doctor and nurse.
Turkey Number Bingo. They are doing so well on their numbers and we are working on teen numbers a ton now.
Thanksgiving feast and learning about how to have good manners. The boys pulled the chairs out for each of the girls and helped push them in.
We worked on saying please and no thank you. And waiting for everyone to get a chance to get food before asking for more.
We finished off our Community helper unit with learning about firemen. More work on our numbers, an obstacle course of calling 911 for help, pouring buckets of water on the burning tree, stop drop and roll, climbing a pretend ladder and spraying out the fire.
In December we have some fun with Christmas stuff but also learned a lot about animals getting ready for winter. We read the book The Mitten by Jan Bret and talked about all the different things they do to make sure they have enough food and are ready for the cold. The kids love our hibernation unit.
Hibernation Day- Our Bear was hungry for some letters before it was time to hibernate and go into his cave. I would call out a letter or the letter sound for them to find and feed the bear.
Centers- Making Candy cane pattern ornaments, Number tree match game, Christmas play do fun, gem correspondence.
We made snowmen by putting our name in the right order. They loved seeing how big each child's snowman was and who had the tallest one.

Our Christmas party was a lot of fun with games, exchanging gifts and singing for our parents!
We have had a wonderful time the last few months! I can't believe we are 4 months into the school year! I can't wait to see everyone in January.
