What a fun summer! We had so much fun with a beach themed day of stamping play dough with seashells, a sensory table of water beads, sea creatures and sand, making an ocean jellyfish for a craft and playing some fun parachute and diving under the ocean games.
For Father's Day we talked about how awesome our dads are and sang some fun songs all about dads. We made a special gift for our dads as well and played a game to act out all the things our dads do.
For Cowboy day we made some fun hats and read two stories about the Gingerbread Man and the Gingerbread Cowboy. It was fun contrasting the books. We played a fun Rancher game at the park for tag and sang some cowboy songs.
For the 4th of July day we painted with pipe cleaners that were in the shape of a firework. Had centers with flags and star themed games. Played a blast off game with streamers I made and enjoyed a yummy firework popsicle.
For dinosaur day we made a volcano dinosaur picture. Went on a dino hunt and enjoyed some dino centers of puzzles, dinosaur bone dig in the sand, play dough dinosaur tracks and find the egg that has the baby dinosaur. We sang lots of songs about dinosaurs with actions to go along with them as well.
For Bubble day the kids helped our puppet friend, Jenny understand what a bubble was. They had the best answers! And were showing her how to blow a bubble. We played parachute games with pretend bubbles and made a picture with bingo dotters in the shape of bubbles. They danced to music and the beat and sometimes floated slowly and sometimes quickly. We also enjoyed making snake bubbles outside!
Pioneer Day was a lot of fun. We learned a lot about pioneers and how their life was very different than ours. We played pioneer children games like, "Birdie in my cup, feather dance and button button who has the button". We made homemade butter to put on rolls and made a game that pioneer children use to play with a piece of wood or button.
For Music day we made our own rice tambourines. After we made them we did a rain dance with different rhythms. We talked about how music makes us feel and listened to different music and showed a happy, excited, mad, sad face based off how the music made them feel. We also danced with ribbon to the beat of each song so they could feel the beat better. Lots of singing this day as well which is always a favorite!
Farm day we matched baby and mommy animals together. We talked about why farms are so important and what each animal gives us. They made their own farm picture and we played some fun games like, "Farmer may I? and Who am I? charades game" We also popped popcorn for a snack.
Our last day was a fun celebration with water and balloons. We made a hot air balloon craft and tossed balloons to a partner. Afterwards we popped each balloon and it had a fun action inside for us to do. We went to the park as well this day and played, "Mr. Fox what time is it? and Duck Duck Splash"
What a fun summer! I hope your kids enjoyed it as much as I did. Here are a few pictures of them :)
