September!

Wow! We have been off to a great start already this year. The kids are adjusting really well and have been doing great with good behavior and following the routine. I am excited for October and all the fun things we have coming up. It should be a great month! Thank you for all your support at home as well and for letting me teach your adorable kids. Here are a few of the things we have been working on.

We have been doing a lot of hands on puzzles and games that the kids think they are just playing when really they are learning. :)

My 4 year olds started working on their portfolios that will go home at the end of the year.

Lots of practice with writing our names. My 3 year olds have been tracing theirs a lot while my 4 year olds are working on mastering those tricky lowercase letters.

We have been practicing our cutting skills and making lots of crafts.

3 year olds working on their shapes and colors. There are so many fun games from Learning Resources!

Building lots of things and using our imaginations to tell stories.

We have been stamping our numbers.

For Letter A week we made a letter A alligator with triangle teeth.

They have been making new friends.

Mobility and Music: We sang 5 little monkey while the kids jumped to each letter A lily pad and tried to not step on the Alligators.

More Name practicing!

A is for ants: We finger painted ant on an anthill.

The kids helped pick the apples from our apple tree and on the back there was a number. We did some fun movement activities to go with each number.
The kids also loved a story I told them about a little red house with no windows, no doors and a star inside right before snack time. They loved when I cut open an apple and showed them the star inside.

Practice makes perfect.

Cookie game to find our lower case letters.

Sorting bears by color during letter B week.

This little guy got out our vehicle sorters and matched them on the colors to the parking garage. I love how creative kids can be and how they love to learn.

Packing up to sing our goodbye song and lining up.

Letter B week:

We learned all about bears. We played a bear game where each child got to be the bear puppet. He would growl and tell the other children what shape he was hungry for. Whoever was holding that shape got to be the bear next. We also played a number game with a magnetic bear that I made. They had to match each number with the number the bear had on his belly. Sorry, hard to get pictures of everything we do.

They loved learning about how bears are getting ready to hibernate right now. We made our own little bear cave and added some fall leaves from outside.

Letter B week also included learning about birds and making a bird out of our letter B. We played a "who's missing" game where each child got a chance to hide under our covered blanked and be a bird in the nest. They loved trying to figure out who was missing and they learned more names in our class as well. We also worked on number 2 a lot.

Letter C week and Number 3
Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom day. For snack time we had a yummy snack of pretzel sticks, apples, raisins and alphabet cereal to make a coconut tree.

Once again, another child did her own learning. She loved making a symmetrical tree and matching the same amount of coconuts on each side of the tree.

We made Coconut hats with my 3 year old class and the 4 year olds made trees with their names and had to write down how many letters are in their name.

Letter C is for colors
We did lots of sorting with colors and worked on fine motor skills.

Shapes and colors together :)

For snack time we sorted fruit loops by color.

We experimented and learned what happens when we mix our primary colors. My 4 year old class had fun painting with the primary colors and mixing them to make a new color.

Practicing more of our lower case letters.

 Mixing Colors

We finished up letter C week by making a caterpillar out of different colored circles. Our yoga teacher, Mrs. Chelise, also came this week and taught the kids lots of fun moves to teach you at home.

We have been singing lots of songs, playing lots of games and reading lots of books as well! Take home books will be going home next week!
