Always such a fun day to learn all about Dr. Suess and all the books he wrote. We read Wocket in a Pocket, and afterwards they made their own Wocket in a Pocket and wrote down what they liked to do. We Read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. We sorted our goldfish for snack time by a number in the fish bowl. At the end of the day they had a snack with blue jello and swedish fish. We also played a Cat in the Hat hiding game by hiding the cat under different colored hats. The kids took turns guessing which hat the cat was hiding under. One of our favorite Dr. Suess books at our house is, Ten Apples up on Top. We stacked apples in the correct number order on top of the cat in the hat. It was a great day!
This little guy thought it would be super fun for us all to measure how tall we were next to the apples.
Making their Wockets
Rain and Rainbows
We read some books about storms and made our own rainbows with streamers. We learned a song to help us remember the order of colors on the rainbow. And we made our own rainstorm using our hands and feet.
We also decorated a letter R with raindrops and cotton balls. For Science we learned about the water cycle and used a glass with water to represent the air, shaving cream on top for the clouds and colored water to drop in for the raindrops. This was a hit!
Snack time: We made fruit loop rainbows.
St. Patrick's Day!
What a fun day! A leprechaun left us a note and got into our green paint!!! He left boot foot prints all over our table and the floor. He also turned the toilet water green and at the end of the day he left us some of his treasure. The kids were hilarious! During center time any noise they heard or any small thing they could find they would blame it on the leprechaun. We did some journal writing and told Mrs. Julie what we would do if we caught a leprechaun. We traced shamrocks with q-tips and paint. For snack time we graphed Lucky Charms marshmallows to see which one we had the most and least of. During morning starter we practiced our letters with a Bingo Dotter. We also did a fun game with the letters G-O-L-D. I hid a bunch of pretend gold around the room and the kids were leprechauns that had to collect the gold. If they found a G they had to take giant steps, an O they spun in a circle, L they leap frogged and D they did a dance.
The Bean Museum
We had a blast going to the Bean Museum and finding all the different animals in our Scavenger Hunt.
They were being Lions and roaring.
Little Red Hen Day
We watched a fun video of the Little Red Hen and then had fun acting out the story afterwards. We made a list of words that rhymed with Hen and added them to our Word Wall. The kids then made their own hen and added some straw and eggs with their rhyming words on it.
These pictures were taken with my phone so I am sorry they aren't the best quality.
Afterwards we read this fun book I got at the library. We compared the two stories to see how they were the same and different. And then the kids made their own pizza. Yum yum!
Rocket Day
Our morning starter was a coloring shape worksheet. We did a shared writing activity as a class to write a story about going to outer space. They were so funny and I made a copy for the kids to take home and share with their family next week. We made rockets with the letters in their names. We learned all about gravity and did a gravity dance. If the music was fast we were on earth and if it was slow we would dance slow like we were floating in outer space. At the end of the day they had fun playing with some rockets I had made for them.
Magnet Fun
During centers one day they loved playing with the new jumbo magnets I got from our book order. They would pick up a letter and tell me what letter they caught.
