Green Day
We read this fun book!
After reading the book they got to make their own green sheep.
We reread the book for a second time and their sheep got to act out each action from the book.
Other activities we did this day for Green Day:
We had cucumbers, peas and broccoli for snack time. We played green light/red light and drove around in our pretend cars.
We made a list of green things and put them on green paper with a picture for our word wall. And we reviewed our primary colors and had fun mixing colors.
CENTERS
We have started baggie books now and have been working in our books during center time. Just a reminder to try and bring those back every Tuesday and I will give them a new book. We also have been enjoying some of our fun learning games during centers.
Cupcake shapes: The frosting comes off and they have to match it with the right shaped bottom. Then they match the same shape to the cupcake tin shape.
Cookie Game: This game has all sorts of fun games in it. This week we looked at the silly face picture and had to make the picture using the same shapes.
Apple Math
We worked on adding in my 4 year old class. They loved using my apple manipulatives to help them count.
PURPLE DAY
I couldn't find my book Harold and the Purple Crayon but the kids had a fun treat of watching it on the computer. I love that so many books are on YouTube and I can switch it up every once in awhile. They love hearing a new voice and think they are watching a movie :)
After watching the book we were artists like Harold and got to draw whatever we wanted on our purple crowns. We also traced our names with glue and added some glitter.
Other purple day activities: We played hot potato with Miss Julie's purple cow stuffed animal and made a purple cow milkshake out of ice cream, grape juice and just a little bit of milk.
PUMPKIN DAY- Orange Day
The kids really enjoyed this day. We measured a pumpkin and weighed it to see how heavy it was. We also talked about the parts of the pumpkin and felt the different textures of the skin, stem and pulp and seeds.
They made their own pumpkin by practicing their cutting skills and cutting out a circle. They added a stem and seeds from our real pumpkin. Some of them even made theirs into a jack-o-lantern.
We also have been singing some fun pumpkin songs. I hope they are starting to memorize them and can sing them to you at home.
YOGA
This same day Miss Chelise came to teach them some Yoga. She will be coming every month to spend about 15 minutes with the kids. She taught the kids about their senses while doing yoga. Using your nose to smell. (She sprayed some orange scented water for them to smell), using your ears to hear the quietness, and your heart to feel your emotions. They practiced some fun poses like cat, downward dog, cobra and cow. They also practiced folding their legs like a pretzel and finishing off their yoga with saying, "Namaste"-my light sees your light. It was a lot of fun and the kids can't wait to have her come back.
BLACK and WHITE DAY
We have been working on our numbers and this day we worked on the number 8. The kids loved singing some spider songs and then making their own spider out of the number 8.
We also made a friendship spider web. We sat in a circle and rolled a ball of yarn to each person. When we rolled the ball to them we would say something we really liked about that person. When we were done we were left with a friendship web.
For a special treat we made a spider out of oreos, licorice and m&m's.
It was also brown day and we didn't do much with brown this day. But we did enjoy a new book I got from our book order.
My daughter came home from Kindergarten telling me about this book I just had to get! She loved the song in it. So I got this one plus a bunch of other Pete the Cat books with the CD's that come with them. They have the most catchy tunes and the kids loved it when Pete's shoes turned brown.
F is for FALL
The weather has been perfect! I hope it will stay this nice for a couple more months. We talked all about the different seasons and read some great books about the leaves changing colors. One of my favorite books was one I just got from our book order:
It is sort of like the Bear Hunt song that the kids love except they go to look for leaves and at the end have to run away from a skunk.
We went on our own leaf hunt and compared the leaves from different trees at our park across the street.
We also made a pile of a bunch of leaves we collected and took turns jumping in them.
For art this day the kids did some rip art making their own fall leaf picture.
VINEYARD NURSERY FIELD TRIP
I hope you all had a great time on our field trip! Thank you for all your help and for sharing your adorable kids with me.
