For Letter P we learned all about Polar Bears and drew pictures of where they live, what the eat, what they can do and what they look like. We also did a Crisco experiment to learn about the blubber that is under their fur to help keep them warm. They loved feeling how warm the ice water was once they put their hand in a a bag with Crisco.
We always enjoy an iceberg snack at the end of this day. Blue koolaid mixed with Sprite and a scoop of ice cream to melt in the ocean.
Penguins! We learned about Emperor Penguins and measured how tall they are. They are the same height as our preschoolers. :) I saw this Adorable penguin on Pinterest and just had to make them. The kids loved stuffing them with cotton balls. We also played a game pretending to be penguins and holding our baby eggs in our legs.
Igloos and Northern Lights. We made igloos with paper the kids cut out and then I had frozen paints that they got to use to paint Northern Lights on their paper. They loved watching a short video on National Geographic of the lights and wondered if they would ever be able to see them at night time.
Our hands got a bit messy on this day, but it was worth it for all the laughter.
Old King Cole day! We turned our letter K's into Kings. They loved the giant crowns. We also watched this Nursery Rhyme to help us learn the words. They still beg for me to show it to them again so you can share this with them at home.

Kangaroo Day: We read the book Does a Kangaroo have a Mother? by Eric Carle. We made kangaroo pouches for snack time. Which they loved stuffing their bananas, pretzels and goldfish into the pita bread.
We made Kangaroo pouches with a baby Joey inside and practiced writing our letter K on the front. I also had the kids practice doing their own sewing with the yarn. That was a bit of a challenge for most of them. We will be practicing this lots more for our Fine Motor Skills.
They loved hopping to music pretending to be a real Kangaroo.
I wore an apron with different shapes inside it. The kids got to take turns feeling a shape in my pouch and guessing what shape it could be based off of how many sides it had.
We watched the Fable the Lion and the Mouse and talked about the moral of the story. They were so excited to know that they can help with lots of stuff at home even though they are small. Here is video that you can watch with them again.

They made a Lion puppet for letter L day and some of them made their own mouse for a puppet too.
We played a leap frog game for PE. They would hop around the lilly pads to music and when I stopped the music they would sit by a numbered lily pad. I would call out a magic number and the child was the winner for that round.
M is for mountain. We had a blast this day making our M's into mountains. We had to make Smores with Marshmallows this day. I hope they weren't too messy of a snack.
I didn't take any pictures of our day that we learned the Nursery Rhyme The Cat and The Fiddle. We made a picture to go along with the poem and practiced saying it. We also talked all about the Moon on this day.
M is for Mail
This was a fun day. We read this fun book. It is a book about a postman that goes to different fairy tale characters house. He leaves them mail and then on different pages their is an envelope that we got to open and take out a letter, or postcard, or birthday invitation.
We learned how to write a letter and how to address an envelope. We also made a thank you card for the mailman with a bag of M&M's. We all helped put it in the mail box. I loved watching his face as he read the card!
It has been a great 3 weeks! I can't wait for this week. We have a special guest coming to talk to us about Chinese New Year.
